I asked about ring flashes earier in a previous thread of mine but I started a new thread to keep the topic separate.
While looking for macro ring flashes again, I saw these interesting ring lights at B&H for about $150. What they are is a constant light source that attaches to your lens vs a synchronized flash.
Here is a link to one of them: //www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=305937&is=REG
I was curious if anyone has tried one of these as a low cost alternative to the expensive Canon ring flashes. I need to take a lot of macro shots so if these work just as well, I could save a lot of money. Thanks in advance!

Hmmm... I doubt this is powerful enough. Why this rather than Vivitar 6000AF? ($100, //www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=210717&is=REG ) |

I've heard that the Vivitar ring flash does not work in auto mode and must be used full manual. That is not something I want to try with my limited flash skills.
