Mind pointing out the challenge rule this violates?
What is in fact disrespectful is the inference that any rules were broken willingly, that deceit is the object of the exercise, or that collusion to drive down the votes of entrants was intended. (That collusive vote thing works in both directions, by the way.) Also disrespectful is when one member tells another to leave the website, particularly over a manufactured dispute like this. |
I never told anyone to leave. |
No, i believe Louis was referring to Jac calling the group pathetic and suggesting they leave. I do think that was pretty disrespectful really but Jac seems to think there is a storming at the gates so i can forgive his reply if it was made in a heightened state of panic. |

I think it's time to stop discussing specific entries (or a specific class of entries) which are still in the voting stage, especially if people are going to start hinting at the identities of the photographers.
I think everyone's had a chance to express an opinion. None of the photos in question would appear to violate the challenge rules. Let's avoid violating the Forum rules ... especially since everyone will be free and welcome to resume the "discussion" (if desired) in a few days. |

Hinting? One person came right out and said they had entered one such shot. |

I second the motion! Let's put this time, into some creative images! |

I'll try one more time.
No one is upset over using abstract photos in a Product challenge. Enter what you want and let the voters decide.
What's wrong here is that several people decided to get together as a group and agree on what type of subject matter to enter. And then decided to title them in a similar fashion.
This is at least disrespectful to the other members, at most a violation of the rules. |
So by your leave you and several others would classify the members who a few months ago in a Free Study did a tribute to their friend (who pasted away) by having a stuffed animal horse in their shots as "Disrespectful of the rules".
Freedom of expression, mate. *IF* these members who entered are not voting, *IF* their friends who KNOW their entry exactly are not voting AND *IF* they wish to present a different perspective/interpretation to the Challenge then I see no violation.
AS more time goes on, I realize how stupid the question "If you were stuck on a deserted island what is the one food that you could eat forever?" truly is. Why limit yourself to just one food?!?!? As a photographer AND an artist you are supposed to test the waters - push yourself and learn new techniques and *NEW* ways of looking at things. I didn't even enter this challenge but I see many different approaches - some old, some new and some in-between. A rather nice variety...and variety is what makes competing and/or voting interesting rather than boring.

How about if they are just referred to as Ocean's 11? |

Me too. This is just way too serious and mature for me. :) |

I WANT TO APOLOGIZE! I misspelled "tourtiere," never mind the missing accent. Snaffles got it right. |

wow leaving because some people decided to break the mold? Photography is Art we are constantly thinking as artist of how to look at something differently sometimes this works and sometimes we fall flat on our faces, we wipe off the blood pouring from our noses and go on. no harm no foul. to leave because people took a risk is something I can't fathom. |

p.s. Pretty sure Brian is kidding. And Ursula. But I'm seriously thinking of being way outside of the box for the rest of the year, just to be p1$$y about it all. And I'm not normally a p1$$y person, you know? After all, my Branches entry was very literal - I thought I did a great job of meeting the challenge, don't you? And my Shadows had shadows, my Parallel Lines had, yep, you guessed it! - parallel lines! I play well with others! Really!
(Note: tongue in cheek is difficult to express with little icons and all...)
So if my name is on a list, should I just go ahead and delete my portfolio now? I can do that... I'd rather not, though. It's taken me years to build it up and I use it as a memory jogger for myself... Besides, I'd lose all those comments. Perhaps DPC can institute a Black Listed feature, and I can be added to that. There's a thought! |

I only count eleven, including l'un en français. I must have counted seventy times. Am I blind? |

forgive me about my list..(i think i'm in deep s**t and i've been a member for only three mo) what am i thinking coming up with a list?? its about fascination with coming up with patterns from random numbers. or i could be making up things. no pun intended. have you seen "A Beautiful Mind"?
"breaking the mold", "rule breakers", "OOB", "offensive", "nuissance", "neon-lighted", "dirty twelve", "ocean's 12".. some of the names being called out there. while some are actually good like the 1st one, i think others have been too harsh. i have not voted on this challenge but i've learned a lot from the FA challenge.. and that is to take my time in voting and enjoy each photo presented to me.
edit: for my previous post:
sick = crazy, mental disorder

No. it's my bad. I was doing a keyword search and accidentally left one in the list that shouldn't have been there. 11 it is.

Don't even JOKE about leaving, Melethia. [shudders]
Seems to me like there are even more folks than usual taking things way too seriously, easily offended, insulted, appalled. Seems like the choices for the rest of us are:
a) conform ourselves, our posts, our entries so as to avoid all possibility of offending their various sensitivities
b) deliberately increase the quantity and scope of our "offenses" to "learn 'em"
c) ignore them
d) just carry on in our own respective ways, cheerfully participating each in his/her own preferred manner with no intent to offend, no searching out of offenses, and turning in any DNMC Police Badges that have been so fiercely worn.
As you might guess, I kinda like option (d), and it would work best if both the alleged offenders AND the offendees applied it to their personal groundrules here.
Otherwise, probably option (c) is useful enough, though I do confess a mischievous attraction to option (b) :-)
But if option (a) should ever somehow become the Rule of The Land here, well, I'll race ya to pack up and leave! I think, if implemented, your "blacklist" should be formally named the McCarthy List |

Oooh! Option (d), please! :-) And I will be shooting an orange for Orange. An orange orange. Not a green orange, or a blue orange... hmmm. A blue orange. It would still meet the challenge, right? Well? Wouldn't it? (evil grin).... |
