:)

I'm going to be in Phoenix from tomorrow to Tuesday. Don't know if I'll be able to get anywhere for pics though. It's visiting family time and pretty short as it is.

Depending... I may or may not make it there by Tuesday. I hope so but I have a delay. :(

Your timing is right, the wildflowers should be breaking out all over the place. This is a great time of year for Sonora photography! Try to get out if you can.

Btw... Contrary to popular belief, I am not "directionally challenged"... and even better... I have a great little GPS with hundreds of hand picked waypoints loaded for hikes into the wilderness. Unfortunately, none of them are in the Phx area. LOL!!!!

Dang! I see at DesertUSA that the wildflowers around Lake Pleasant and Bartlett Lake are pretty much in full swing right now and it is 85 in Phx!!!!!

I still have not left on this long photo safari. :(

Unfortunately, I've decided that the twin light macro flash I ordered is a must have item for this trip. It was supposed to be here last Monday, but still has not arrived. That ticks me off.

I may have to just go anyway and have the camera store overnight it to me when it arrives.

At Fredmiranda I saw a picture of Lost Dutchman SP taken two days ago that shows it is still almost devoid of wildflowers. That means the wildflower season is delayed somewhat there. But the wildflower season is in full swing at Lake Pleasant and Bartlett Lake and those are not that far away.

I'm still hopeful for catching the season in southern AZ... if I ever leave. :)

OK... for those interested... I will be in the Phx/Tucson area by this weekend. Later than expected but I will be getting there.

If there is anyone in the area that is interested in a wildflower safari let me know. I'm hoping to meet up with JulietNN but would like to see other folks as well.

Steve, do you have a ETA on Little Finland yet?
This weekend finds me in Vegas, full moon+ Earth Hour should be cool..

I was just at the Valley of Fire last week. First time I've ever been there. I decided that when I go to vegas again that I want to hit the valley at dusk to get some of the dramatic lighting because mid-day gives lighting that is not as appealing on these dramatic sandstone formations.

But a great location.

p.s. While in Vegas go to the new city center and visit this guy's gallery: //www.rodneyloughjr.com/. You won't be disappointed.

will be up to play with you this weekend.

In all honesty the flowers are not all popped though yet, another week of this 75 sunshine and they should be roaring to go. Mind you , you can come and shoot my yard which I left 2 weeks ago and now it looks like a gold course cos of the weeds! But my Tombstone Rose (Lady Banksa) is in full bloom and just gorgeous, there has to be at least a million roses blooming, the white has not bloomed yet.

I am about 20 mins from Picacho Peak and 5 min from the Saguaro Desert, we can always take a drive there if you want too, less flowers (but there are some) but outstanding cactus, we could even do some night shots if you want to stay out that late

Of course I could not be there this weekend when you are in Vegas. I will be down south in Phx area this weekend. The good news is Little Finland is not really all that far from St George. It will be some time during the following week or weekend. I will steal some Net access here and there to keep you posted on where I will be. Night lights and Valley of Fire are also on agenda.

That is the best news I've heard. I had seen that Lost Dutchman in Phx had no wildflowers less than a week ago. I might get there in time after all. Some folks in southern Utah near the Grand Staircase told me last weekend they got some snow!

CA is still pretty slow too, from San Diego to LA, there are some out, but again, even the news was saying that it would be a week to two weeks before anything popped up.

Today and tommorrow it is meant to be raining and cold so add another 2 days onto your time off, as nothing is popping up when there is no sun.

here is the Tombstone rose, I have one on both sides of my balcony, the left hand side gets morning sun and is in bloom. the right has afternoon and is still in teh bud stage the white is just budding as well.

So you have at least a week/2 before you get anything down here that is worth shooting

I will make my final decision before I go but I might revert back to my original plan... and that is to make stops at Antelope Valley, Bodie, Mono Lake and Anza-Borrego in CA prior to going on to Phx.

But I have seen at DesertUSA and other reporting sources that wildflowers are already peaking in CA and they are in swing in AZ at Bartlett and Pleasant. It is nice to know that I am still not to late. :)
