I should have thought of this sooner, but we need some "awards" to hand out for the juried portion of the Fine Arts challenge; a blue one, a red one, a yellow one, and a green one for honorable mentions.

What are they gonna look like? I don't know, except not ribbons like DPC already has. Trophies? We did buttons for best-of-2009 already. Do they even have to look the *same* except different colors? Not necessarily, though they ought to be thematically and visually linked in some way.

So anyway, I throw it up to you folks; anyone got some design ideas? Let's see 'em! We need these finished and in hand by Saturday night, please :-)

How about an empty picture frame?

It could be the "Famous Five" award

Something like this? Maybe... Then the HM's, etc...

An amusing idea. Got the right frame in mind? Something baroque?

I actually quite like these. They are so compellingly "unarty".

Who has some other ideas?

Nah, we gotta have our blue, red, yellow and green, or so say I at any rate :-)

That's a composite of the judges profile pix, B&W, grainy etc...

...and either under- or overexposed :)

Maybe call them the "Crap Awards"

Rather than the frame, what about a duotone, etc., for the color?

I'd agree with that, IF we went with this I'd prefer to see it done in strong, aggressive duotone. But since we're hoping for more juried FA challenges in the future, I'm not sure a composite of THIS panel is the best idea, since the panels will, of course, change every time; or so I'd hope anyway :-)

But I'll direct my fellow judges to this thread; it's our collective desires that will make the pick, not my personal opinion.

Remember, it's about the photographers and their photographs, not the judges. ;-)

I'm not very good at this. Ignore the border. I couldn't get it out.

Kind of tongue-in-cheek, but here's my go.

Baroque frame ...

Or you could add noise or blur to the Mona Lisa .. or melt her. Whatever ;-)
