It's in the menu under the dodge tool which looks kind of like a pushpin.

Its in the seventh group on the tools list, on the right. It looks like a hand, just click on the group, keep holding, then the list will pop, it'll say "Burn Tool".

First make sure the floating Tools Pallette is visible. If it is not, on the main munu, click on "Window" and "Tools" (second last entry).

Now, on the Tools Pallette, look in the right colum, seventh tool from the top. If the burn tool (hand) is not displayted in this position, right-click on whatever is, you should seee three choices; sponge, burn, dodge. Choose burn, and the burn tool will now be on top.

Remember that there are multiple related tools at each postion. Choosing between them is as simple as a right-click.

Please post back and let us know if this solves the problem...

A better way to burn/dodge is to create a new layer, set the mode to overlay, and check the box to fill it with 50% gray. Then with that layer selected, select the brush tool, set the foreground color to black and the background to white. Select the brush too and set the opacity to ~ 35%. Use black to burn, hit X to switch to white and dodge.

This way, you are only working on the overlay layer, and if you decide you don't like what you've done, just delete that layer.
