I have a 18-270 Tamron lens and just ventured into shooting RAW with it and my Canon T1i for the first time. When I open a raw image in Canon Digital Photo Professional, the image is slightly distorted ) (
Because the lens is not Canon, the Lens aberration correction functionality is greyed out. Is there anything I can do to enable it for this lens?
If not, any suggestions on how to work around the problem?
I presume it is legal to do perspective correction in Advanced, but I recall that it is specifically prohibited in Basic? |

You are correct that perspective correction in Basic is not allowed. Correction of barrel or pincushion (what you have) is also not allowed in Basic.
For work that's not for a Basic Editing challenge, I recommend the PTLens plug-in. It has presets for the lens you are using, and it also has a free trial version so you can give it a try. The license is more expensive than it used to be (I think I paid $5 years ago) but is good for all future updates. |
