I have a 18-270 Tamron lens and just ventured into shooting RAW with it and my Canon T1i for the first time. When I open a raw image in Canon Digital Photo Professional, the image is slightly distorted ) (
Because the lens is not Canon, the Lens aberration correction functionality is greyed out. Is there anything I can do to enable it for this lens?
If not, any suggestions on how to work around the problem?
I presume it is legal to do perspective correction in Advanced, but I recall that it is specifically prohibited in Basic?

You are correct that perspective correction in Basic is not allowed. Correction of barrel or pincushion (what you have) is also not allowed in Basic.
For work that's not for a Basic Editing challenge, I recommend the PTLens plug-in. It has presets for the lens you are using, and it also has a free trial version so you can give it a try. The license is more expensive than it used to be (I think I paid $5 years ago) but is good for all future updates.
