//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fine_art

The first sentence shows that "fine art" is basically anything... Am I completely off here? Or is this just another way of saying "Free-studies"?

Key words as I see it are "Modern" OR "Contemporary"

Basically you need to look at:

Modern Art
Contemporary Art
Abstract Art
and finally, Fine Art Photography

ETA: My favorite

Honestly, I added that as a measure of balance.. I really do doubt that's the real spirit here, I would pay more attention to the modern art article, and the links at the bottom of it for the different movements, as a matter of a fact, I would like to see people list the movement they are following in their titles to give us a better chance to judge how well they fit the genre they were going for..

I would also really, really like to see one or more follow up challenges for a specific movement.

So anything abstract would work? Maybe I'll work on my macro skills this week... Who knows? :)

At least that is my take on what is a safe bet here...

Basically if it's a sharp photo, one that is, in any way, stock-photo like, you will probably suffer the wrath of angry pitchfork-wielding mobs of chaotic DPC villagers, or...... at least get more than a few 1's..

But really, that's just my interpretation, I'd love to hear how some others are approaching this one...

I do have to warn you.... This challenge is likely to be wildly variable in what scores well...

DPC voters are fickle anyway, and the nature of this challenge should throw everyone enough out of their box (at least almost everyone) that there should be some serious chaos on this..

So, in short, if your entry bombs, just so I've said it up-front, this might all be BAD ADVICE :) who knows..
