Steve will have to turn himself blue for this one. :-)

Ha! I'd like to see the 'self' portrait of that!

I will try not to obsess on the wording of this challenge. Starting no

Don't obsess. That particular definition is quite wide open and the spirit of the Challenge is well discussed and defined in the thread posted by citymars. This link and this link have a wide wide variety of examples to learn from.

Yep...I may need to turn Blue again...

Okay, I'm totally going to stress and obsess because I like definitions damnit!

Ok, someone explain to me what this is?

Just an observation, but every one of those examples is b&w. Color works, too.

Josh, check out the previous discussion thread where this suggestion was first made (see the link in the first post of this thread).

You're in good shape, actually; a quick glance at your portfolio shows you have a penchant for the sort of work that ought to do well in this challenge. This is, hopefully, the anti-blazing-sunset-water-droplets-frozen-in-time-super-smooth-studio-setup-sexy-women-and guys-ladybugs-on-macro-leaves-gleaming-bubbles challenge...

Nope -- never had any of those ... well a couple of sunsets maybe. But I'm pretty sure the supply of "fine art" is equally scarce ....

From one of our own in the Spider Awards link:

Interesting that the Spider Awards seperated abstract and fine art. Certainly there is cross over.

I was trying to make that point in the other thread that because images are artistic and Gallery worthy doesn't necessarily place them into the Fine Art Photography category. Personally, I'm on the fence with Street Photography but I do see some work where the fleeting elements align to create an entity, which is on an entirely different plane.

It's hard to draw lines and make sound solid arguments but we all do it in our own ways...all the time.

eta: Our own Yanil,Chauvin is also a winner in the People Category

I just have to say this because many are posting links to what they think "fine art" photography is, or as examples, etc. in this thread and the other floating around.

To me, the point of this challenge is to pull something from your own head and imagination, and not to copy or emulate some other photographers work. Take a chance, step away from your comfy zone. A favorite quote:

Trust that little voice in your head that says "Wouldn't it be interesting if..."; And then do it. ....Duane Michals

Make a photograph for yourself, truly for yourself, and don't think about pleasing a crowd. Show us what's in your noggin and make a photograph that isn't of something, but is something. To me, this is how art is born.

Amen...twice!

Shoot from the heart. Don't shoot to win votes.

Maybe this has been asked already, but I can't find the answer. Why is there a yellow flag by 'Advanced Rules'? I thought the flags indicate that there is some exception to the norm, but the Sunday challenge is normally Advanced Rules.

challenge has the added benefit of being juried. Read more here.

...I just took the perfect picture for this challenge, by complete accident, well not complete just mistake

Ok, everyone go read posthumous's guide to 'voting' on artistic images again..

Then go have a look at a Google search for Modern Art

Contempory landscapes are quite nice actually, lost of oranges and red, softness with harsh lines about them, I quite fancy a bit of that!
