I've got a shot for "Waiting" that I love. BUT....I know the focus on it
is questionable......sigh....should I or shouldn't I?
Maybe a re-shoot. .....Another half hour drive to get there!
sheesh!
What would you guys do?

Just keep putting off making the decision and then take a picture of yourself. :-)

Is the shot good enough for you to be proud showing it to others? or is it just a shot to be entered for the sake of entering the challenge? PS, contrast and sharpening can help a (very) slightly out-of-focus shot just as brightness can help a dark photo -- but, it will never be as good as one done right from the start.
Ultimately it is your choice; but ask yourself if you want to win, or do you just want your name on the list of those who also ran?

The words I enter by are, "don't enter it until your satisfied with it."

I generally go by the idea that if I'm questioning it that much then I'm not happy with it. If I were you I'd be doing it again, or doing something else. Probably not the answer you wanted to hear :-) [/url] |

I agree. I find that most shots that I question that much, or have to rationalize to myself to enter, are not worth entering. If a basic technical element like focus is not there, you will get hammered by the voters, and in my opinion rightfully so.

Since I "don't care that much" about the numeric scores (and am busy/lazy), I'd probably submit it and let the voters decide if it's worth the drive to re-shoot.
If you get a lot of comments like "a nine if it had only been in focus," you go back and re-shoot and make prints. If you don't, it could mean that the subject isn't as inspiring to others as to you, and you'll have to decide for yourself if you want to re-shoot. If the focus is so horrible that the voters won't even bother to determine the subject, then you better re-shoot first. If the numeric score IS important to you, then definitely re-shoot first :) |

Gotten over my indecision. (Feeling silly really)
Not submitting it. It's not good enough.
