Set your camera aside for this challenge.
Use your scanner and objects found around the house to make compelling images.
Anyone up for this? |

Hey, this sounds totally cool! But I'm already running a robot side challenge in March so probably won't have time to post too much. I'll definitely check in though! |

Jump in when you can. I may not post much either but it will be interesting to see what others come up with. |

Is this the posting thread? |

I started out with a scanned creation but couldn't resist flipping and blending it. :D

Something to try:
Change up the background by using different coloured mat board over top of your creation. Place it right on top or just hold it, swirl it or whatever over the top while the scan is happening. |

I had this thread on "Watch" because I wanted to get a glimpse of the images displayed here. I'm already in an intensive March side-Challenge and my ancient CanoScanner is buried under equipment and a box of Kleenex. The stuff I moved off came in contact with the keyboard (hey, my space is not finite) and a few things didn't work for a while. Yeah, well, anyhow. This topic, Scanner Art, is really interesting and fun. So, can I have "in" please?
Here's my first try:

My CD Collection
I started with various motion of one or two CDs down the scanner bed during the scan then of course had to flip them all. :oD
Check out the entire collection:

This time I waggled a small flashlight in the scanner box on top of and to the side of the rice paper. I seem to have created a set of dishes.
...
Oh, I hope this thread keeps going. This exercise is fun!

The straw flowers and basket were bright oranges, yellows and straw colored. I don't understand why they all come out purple.
Maybe it's my ancient scanner? ... here is another example of Colette's spiral technique.
Oh, dear. Looks as if the Scanner side-challenge is going to fade away into the (purple) sunset.

One thing you might note, is that scanner plattern glass tends to be rather soft and very easy to scratch. Even carefully putting nuts, bolts, rocks, stones and etc on the glass can scratch it... forwarned is fore-armed. I recently had to replace the plattern of my large format expensive graphics scanner because I put many tiny scratches on it.... I was tired of spending hours cloning the scratches out! :) |
