Maybe you could help me!
I have no idea about lenses, this is all new to me!
Could you tell me what a Sigma - Telephoto 70-300 APO zoom is good for & is $350.00 new (Canadian) a good price? |

I found mine new on ebay for about 200 (Canadian) plus shipping. 350 for in store sounds about right though. make sure you pick up the APO version if you go with a Sigma. |

Do you like this lens? What kind of pictures do you take with it the most?

Are you talking about this one? It's a decent lens, and a very good value for the price. B&H has them new for $209 US. I've seen them on eBay for substantially less slightly used. Of course buying new you get the warranty.
Look at the Equipment/Lenses database here on DPC for some samples of photos taken with this lens.
I've had one of these for years now, and I've just hung onto it since it's not worth that much to sell it, and it comes in handy for trips/events where I don't have to worry about it so much (i.e. camping).
ETA link to DPC photos.

That 85 looks real interesting and the buzz seems to be it might be a good quality lens.
Gota love the idea of that 8-16mm lens as well :-) |

Yes that is the one! I only have one lens (which came with my camera) and I want another. This one caught my eye, so I was wondering what it was like. |

for the money its great from 70-200. if you zoom all the way to 300 its a little soft with the aperture wide open but ok stopped down a bit. the reviews were better than the sony equivalent. |
