Actually it takes multiple reports (by multiple users) to trigger the automatic spam filter. I didn't see your original post before you edited it, but that plus the "com" in your original user name probably was cause for concern for at least a few users.

We are first and foremost a photography challenge web site. Our goal is to help people learn, our primary means of doing that is our weekly themed challenges. As a registered user, you will be able to enter one of the "exclusive" challenges each week (the ones with the grey user icon next to them). Paid members can also enter any or all of the challenges with blue member icons next to them, and also get special extras, such as portfolio space.

Since we are not primarily a portfolio site like flickr, we don't offer portfolio space to all users, reserving it instead as a special extra for paid members. If you have images posted elsewhere, you are, of course, welcome to post links to them here. There is a short period of time where new free account users are prevented from posting links (this is to reduce spam, which was a pretty major problem for a while until we made that change), so if you are unable to post, you may want to give it a some time and then try again. There's plenty to do in the meantime, such as vote and comment on photos in the existing challenges.

Did we just get played? :-) How can you get kicked off if you've only created one thread and made one post - unless of course there were others that SC deleted or something. ???

Well, I was in the middle of trying to have a discussion with petzoopply, and as a matter of fact was typing a reply when the thread just up and disappeared.

Considering that there is now no way to go back to the thread and see what really going on, I would think that this would be something that SC would want to keep an eye on moreso to make sure that a newbie had a chance than to just dismiss it out of hand. We always get hammered for not giving someone a chance, and since I was into my third of fourth post trying to have a discussion, I was quite surprised that the thread disappeared.

This was not a case of SPAM, as anyone who might have actually read the thread before jettisoning it would have been able to tell.

One of our members got a little free with some of our "filtering" discussion that sometimes happens, but considering another member (me) had spent time and was in active engagement, I'd kind of like to know why the thread wasn't reviewed properly.

Edited for fat fingers.....

There was not only more than one post, there was another member posting, and writing a reply when the thread vanished.

Her first post was a query as to whether people shot pics of their pets, as did she, and would we look at hers to see what we thought.

Now I understand her bewilderment at not being able to put up links.

Just out of curiosity, did the OP's account get cancelled as well as the thread being axed? The automatic SPAM filter closes the account as well? I had sent her a PM encouraging her to hang in there 'til some exchanges were made, now I'm thinking that a PM sent to a harrassed newb might have disappeared into cyberspace.

Nice going.......y'all give us a hard time for jumping on newbs, and now the system just jettisons 'em if too many people jump to a possibly incorrect conclusion?

Thanks guys for responding.
I do photography and videos. I am a dog trainer, and enjoy taking pictures of my pets. i did ask a question about taking pictures of pets because some people don't appreciate them.

Anyways, I will try to contribute to the forum and learn more about photography.

special thanks to NikonJeb

bye

Hang in there, and give us all a chance to get to know each other. There are many talented, and friendly, photographers here that shoot excellent images of pets.....

I have some dog pics of my killer Poms that I need to upload to my Critters collection, am updating my port, so I will make sure I link you.

I think you can link to my favorites somehow, but I have quite a few critter pics in them.

Thanks guys!
I'm going to do a challenge or 2. Kind of nervous cause I'm a newbie!

*snicker*

Dont be nervous, you need a bit of a thick skin but dont take a lot of comments to heart... some people are mean, some seem mean and are just trying to be honest/helpful and there are tones of good people here as well.

You can't worry about what place you'll end up in. Just pick a photo you like and submit it to the challenge.

posthumous never does. *grin*
