This really didn't start out to be a recap of the NE DPC Strobist GTG, but it just sort of took off.....
I have to say that was one of the most fun, and most educational, events I have attended. Kudos to OdysseyF22 for coming up with the idea and procuring the models. I'm not even sure how the organizational end of it came about entirely, but I know that he and TonyT are the ones we have to thank for this great GTG.
This is Brent OdysseyF22 and his lovely lady, Mandy, who was a delightful person and good sport about being a victim model, albeit NOT her original plan for her day! Thanks, Mandy!

She grumbled mildly about being a lousy subject, but acquiesced with grace, and if I do say so myself, I think she photographs quite well.
It's funny, but although I pretty much managed to get most everyone at one point or another, I didn't get a shot of TonyT. This was as close as it got. He seemed to manage to be either turned away or wandering off the other direction every time I was nearby. Hmm.....
Alan was the seminar-meister, with handy tips, techniques, & info about Eye-Fi, and geo-tagging......just more proof that he has *NO* life outside his photography! LOL!!!

Check out the lens of his camera......I flipped it, so you can see.....my shirt. Refer to the awful shot he took of Susan, the quiet model, and I.
Frank, (My portrait mentor/hero! LOL!!!) Photorico, took the initiative to shoot outside the box, well.....actually, outside the building, demonstrating that just being a little creative, in the most ordinary places, you can produce fabulous results. He went out the back door for a smoke, and when he came back inside, he suggested that we do some shooting.....out by the dumpster????
I just don't think of this kind of stuff, and if you look at it from the angle of that image, it just looks like a guy standing on a dumpster.......
But *THIS* is what it produced, in two variations, one with the light/softbox, and the other variation being just metering for the model(s), and letting the background blow out.

That's why I like to hang around Frank......he's insightful, knowledgeable, creative.......Oh, and he has lights! LOL!!!
We all got a chance to shoot out back and everyone, especially the models had a terrific time with the departure from the studio shooting. Thanks, Frank!
The rooms were spacious, there were tables & chairs to accomodate the massive amounts of junk we all had scattered everywhere, the hotel people were friendly and accomodating, and everyone had a good time, and I imagine, learned something. I know I came away with more knowledge and experience, and was delighted by the opportunity to attend. You just can't beat a DPC GTG!!! The models were great.....photogenic, pleasant, and agreeable; everyone was helpful, many thanks to the folks who willingly shared their wonderful studio equipment with those of us who had nothing, and I hope we can do this again. I highly recommend it to anyone who can throw together a group of DPCers, and make a day of it!
Stay tuned for more images in the original thread HERE
Or here as well, hopefully!
