How about a nod to the greatest band from Canada ever? Over 30 albums to choose from...

And every one of their songs sounds exactly alike. LOL I am not a Rush fan.

There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas

The trouble with the maples
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade

There is trouble in the forest
And the creatures all have fled
As the maples scream 'Oppression!'
And the oaks just shake their heads

So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights
'The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light'
Now there's no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe and saw

i will add that quantity doesnt always mean quality. and i believe about 1/2 the albums they have released are either some form of greatest hits, or some form of live mix and match.

WOW, i will have to agree to disagree on that one, but everyone has different tastes...besides, i thought BTO was the best from canada?

true, but some of their live albums stand alone as their own hits. Exit Stage Left and A show of Hands are classic live sets.

For a band that formed in the late 60s to still be making innovative and popular music today says something. And its hard to beat the lyrics of Neil Peart.

I think The Tragically Hip are among the best, maybe Blue Rodeo.

"Needle And The Damage Done" neil young

I caught you knockin'
at my cellar door
I love you, baby,
can I have some more
Ooh, ooh, the damage done.

I hit the city and
I lost my band
I watched the needle
take another man
Gone, gone, the damage done.

I sing the song
because I love the man
I know that some
of you don't understand
Milk-blood
to keep from running out.

I've seen the needle
and the damage done
A little part of it in everyone
But every junkie's
like a settin' sun.

--

fwiw 'milking blood' is a means for junkies to hit up, and then take some of their own blood ( while it's pumping heroin ) to store in case they run out of juice.... then they will re-inject that blood to get a hit.

I think your second sentence is a good explanation of why your first sentence is so inaccurate.

Attention all planets of the Solar Federation...

We have assumed control.
We have assumed control.
We have assumed control.

To keep their spark alive
Obsession has to have action
Pride turns on the drive

that was an interesting thread ... the main story has since changed to how he came to write the new hockey night theme (take THAT bullies from 50 years ago)....he's a great writer, you might want to try "ghost rider" it's his autobiographic account of how he dealt with the death of his wife and daughter in less than a year by hitting the road on his bike for a LONG impromptu road trip through canada/us. excellent writing.

Wait, Rush = Tom Sawyer, Freewill, Limelight, and Spirit of Radio, right? Yeah, they're good. I like the weird tempos/rhythms and the transitions between them... but the voice gets somewhat annoying, and some of their less famous stuff really does sound the same as their hits.

ETA: Some of their stuff is kinda corny. You can choose A or B or C or nothing at all? Seriously? That sounds like something you'd say to a 3rd grader.

ETA2: I heard they were supposed to play at the Olympics' opening ceremony (and were seen rehearsing nearby), but the luger's death meant that the more upbeat stuff had to be changed to uplifting stuff. Stupid political correctness.

What you own is your own kingdom
What you do is your own glory
What you love is your own power
What you live is your own story
In your head is the answer
Let it guide you along
Let your heart be the anchor
And the beat of your own song

those are some of the best lyrics you're quoting. read the whole song, it's about man's free will to choose what god/religion/deity they worship. you can choose not to decide, you still have made a choice (atheist/agnostic)

Neil's awesome, too! Who else had Pearl Jam calling them up for a jam???

Music is subjective, its like opinions, some you will like, others you will not. No excuses are needed,so don't justify ones displeasure with incorrect information....................I'm out.................dig it!

Is this supposed to be a reply to a specific post?

Why not expand this to candian bands or all classic rock bands?
