i came across this fix ( for IE8 and probably IE7 ) this morning to get rid of those annyoing ad links that pop up an ad usually unrelated to the text in the link, and generally making reading articles annoying.

in the browser go to tools > internet options. click the security tab, then the 'restrcited sites' button, then the 'sites' button.

add the following three sites to the blocked sites list - type them just as below - as a wildcard.

*.vibrantmedia.com
*.intellitxt.com
*.kontera.com

i don't want to hear all the " use firefox " BS. for all you folks you need to install yet another add on script. for everyone else - you need an openDNS account.

Which reminds me. In Europe MS will now have to offer their users which browser they want to use. I believe it'll be coming in an update, and look something like this;



Microsoft offers web browser choice to IE users

i'd be more worried about security issues than mouse over ad popups...
