Okay, so I know I'm not the first one to have done this, but my overwhelming pride/guilt forces me to a penance on this forum.

I was really curious about voting trends on my challenge entries, so I broke down and wrote a Perl script logs me in, updates the stats, and records any new votes, then graphs them using gnuplot so I can watch my score plummet each week. :) Maybe if I spent as much time taking photos as I do programming, I'd have more ribbons, and fewer useless Perl scripts!

The script isn't perfect, but it does support multiple entries on the same page, automatically finds image_ids and writes to new score files as you post new entries. It doesn't yet calculate the actual scores you are receiving, but it could do that to a good degree of accuracy, if I decide to add it at some point.

Anyone else want to admit their geeky-DPC sins?

P.S. If anyone is comfortable with this sort of thing, and will use it responsibly (no 10-second updates, please, I don't want the Admins getting mad at me if people abuse this sort of automated update!), you can PM me and I can share the script, no support provided. :)

Actually, I think it would be interesting to graph interesting voting trends. It appears to me over the last few challenges that DPC is infected with "monday voters syndrome." On Sunday night, my challenge entries start out with good scores. The score then plummets on Monday and Tuesday, then slowly creeps back up. Would be interesting to see that actually graphed.

So far, I've only run my script for a week, on two challenge entries, but I've definitely seen the pattern you describe here. But remember, there will always be a lot of fluctuation at the beginning, because the average score involves so few votes. If there's any interest in this thread, and I get some good results ove the next couple weeks, maybe I'll post some graphs in my portfolio of any interesting trends.

For the past several challenges, this has been the case for me, too. Although there has always been a drastic drop from Sunday night to Monday morning. On Sunday night, it's always fun to guess how far the score will drop by Monday morning!

Yeah, this is the one drawback of having a graph for these things. I watched my score on threes drop from 7+ to around 6.4 over the course of a day. Grr...and here I thought it might be my first time in the top ten. But my new spiffy graphs don't lie.
