I think I know the answer.....
Does such a thing exist? I've been using a Sigma 70-300 lens with a Tamron 1.4 converter, but now I've bought a Canon EF-S 55-250 to replace the Sigma. The Canon doesn't fit on the converter.
Am I out of luck?

| You can get teleconverters that screw onto the front of the lens, but the quality will suffer and you'll lose autofocus. You were better off with the Sigma in that regard. |

Unless I am misunderstanding you... you can get the one of the Canon Teleconverters, but Canon call them extenders. They come in x1.4 and x2 and are very expensive!
I have the same issue - a Sigma 1.4 teleconverter for my 70-200 and 180 macro, which doesn't fit my Canon lenses. Hey ho.

| The canon teleconverters/extenders only fit certain L lenses. |

NOTE: "AF" means the combination will autofocus.
"MF" (Manual focus only) means that the combination will function,. but AF will NOT be available.

Ah heck! You mean even if I do splash out on the Canon 2x extender I will have to manually focus my EF 1200mm L? that Sucks!

"There was a time when manual focus was all we had..." he clucks disapprovingly, and adds "Real men don't use autofocus!" as he runs for shelter, cackling gleefully...

We also had focusing screens in the camera to help us get it right. It was a LOT easier to manual focus my Canon AE-1. Just turn the focus ring until you could see through the diamondy-thingy focus thingy. (I think that's the technical term for it.)

I know exactly of what you speak of... I have one of those on my Pentax K1000. I also have a bevy of lenses for the two camera bodies I have, neither of which I have used in ages.

It's called a "split-prism with micro-prism collar focusing screen" |
