August/September is a good period to visit southern Italy, normally is hot, but not like in Australia o Florida, humidity is low, the temperature could be around 25/27 degrees near Rome and Naples, higher (29) in Sicily and Sardegna... is also a period that the rain is not important...
The best time to visit Italy is, however, between April and June, when the climate and temperatures are mild all around, this time in the countryside in bloom adds fantastic scenarios, so that you can visit the city and enjoy the mild climate the same time.
