Among the busy schedule that has kept me from participating lately was an awards ceremony at my son's school last night. Along with many other excellent students, he earned himself the Presidential Award for Academic Achievement! Needless to say, I'm VERY proud :)

Not sure where Rothbury is, but next time you're out this way let me know!
Edited to add: BTW there are some awesome lighthouses on the west side of the state that I'm gonna try and see this summer! I'll let ya know if I get any good shots.

Hahahaha...it's a PIZZA CONTEST :o)
Rothbury is northwest of Grand Rapids over near the Silver Lake Dunes area. Take 96 from you up to 31 & head north.
MI has THE MOST lighthouses in the US (NY 2nd, ME 3rd) & it KILLED me to be in the state for the SECOND time & have absolustely NO time to go lighthouse shooting!!! We come in just for the show, work till dark each day(which is LATE in MI...) & hightail it back to NY to get the kids back to school. Straight through from here is 17 hours. We got out just as the storms hit on Sunday afternoon. Got drenched (and prayed the lightening would leave us alone) as we packed up the tent!
Definitely let me know how your lighthouse run goes! :)

Any chances of coming back this way this summer? I would be most humbly honored to go shooting up the shore with you! (and maybe borrow some good glass :-O) I'll be doing some research on the subject over the next few days as I gotta figure out when I'm gonna take my vacation this year...

Hey - My wife and I are coming to Colorado in a couple weeks! Not looking for pizza though - just some ideas for shooting around Colorado Springs.

With 130 in that state, hitting the MI lighthouses is definitely high on my list, but very difficult to schedule. I'll be sure to let you know if we're heading your way. I tried to talk hubby into a winter run there so I could get some cool ice/snow shots, but he was somewhat reluctant. I believe he said something to the effect of..."DO YOU KNOW HOW FRIGGIN (only worse) IT IS THERE??"
My reply..."Ummm, that's the POINT hon!" lol
I'm looking for a map that lays out all their locations. The hotel we stayed at only had literature on the one that was near by (at the mouth of White lake I think...Little something)& I couldn't even make it to that one :(
Colorodo...no lighthouses there, but if we ever take up skiing, I'll let ya know ;)

LOL....Harsh auditorium lighting & it's just gotten warm enough here to finally get a TAN :o) And trust me...he will! He takes after his italian Mom, not his german Dad.
And as for the books...he actually hardly ever hits em! He's too busy making 007 hit some bad guy on the video games. He's in for a rude awakening next year when he hits high school & figures out he really HAS to study to keep those grades!
