Opinions are very divided, but overall, I seem to be on an upward trend.

Two votes averaging 7.5, followed by two more averaging 3.0. This is rather entertaining to watch.

Now someone thinks it is sooooo bad it cannot get any worse. No explanation left for the 1, naturally.

I'm hovering around a 6--up from the ~5.8 it was, down from the ~6.5 at its peak.
Although I'm a firm believer in the idea that, within DPC, the voters are never wrong, I do wish I could understand the voting! |

I understand to know that nobody likes my pic :-( I have to remember that I just made this entry for the fun of it and I knew it wouldn't score well when I entered it....it was just for fun, it was just for fun, it was just for fun.... ;-) |

Call it experience.

I disagree to an extent. Sometimes the voters are wrong, and a good entry just has narrow appeal. One has to interpret the scores and comments to decide if it was a successful entry with narrow appeal, or if it really was poor to mediocre. MY own entry is one I think is pretty good, but I also know it has aspects that many will percieve as flaws.
And I also wish I understood the voting. I think most 1's are punishment for something, but rarely does one get feedback left with those. By the same token, a lot of 10's are a reward, and the shot is not really that good.

Much low vote than my expectation. I got nice comments but I really didn't expected such poor voting. What I done may not be too interesting but tricky to do for me considering basic editing :) |

How can someone punish or reward a photo that they aren't supposed to know who the owner is?????
I'm understanding the voting on mine - the voters think it sucks!

For whatever it is about your photo that the voter is tired of seeing. Maybe they don't like seeing baby pictures or think floral shots are overdone, so they vote down any of those, not because it is a bad photo, but because it is low on their personal appeal scale. I try to vote on the quality of the photo first, with personal appeal as a secondary consideration. Some vote strictly on what grabs them, regardless of how good it is or is not ("Good" being a very subjective term). Still others use the voting scale to rank the entries. This is why freestudies are so much tougher to get a high average in. In a challenge consisting of the best everyone has done this month, the very good photo that might normally get a 6, can get a 3 or 4 from a voter when ranked next to everything else. |

Doesn't seem to be getting a lot of votes in the middle ground. Gonna have trouble making 5 1/2.

It'll be interesting to see the voting breakdown on yours--I always like seeing how close to (or far from) a standard bell curve the voting actually goes. I'd like to see a photo that has a reverse bell curve... minimal 5s but heading to peaks at both 1 and 10. |

That's actually one of my goals, to get a love it or hate it photo, with a dip in the 5's. There's another reason this is very interesting to follow, but I'll have to save it for after the challenge is over. |

Spiff, I knew I was taking a chance when I entered it. I knew what was wrong with it when I entered it....and the one comment I got pointed those things out. So, I'm OK. :-) I just thought it was a fun entry. I'm planning for the next challenge. |
