I know I am not the best photographer and for the most part my challenge entries not the best once I look back at them but sometimes I just feel people are way too harsh with their voting. I mean people for the most part just take one look and quickly vote to move onto the next shot. Sometimes I just wish people would sit back, take a moment to actually look at the picture, imagine what it may have looked like before editing, try to see what the photographer was going for, maybe give them props for trying soemthing different, etc. In my opinion photos should never get below a 4.0 for trying soemthing new. I feel on this site people are just so use to the familiar. I do not want to conform to the DPC way, I will continue to be different, try my own things, take chances and think outside the box. Maybe one day being different on this site will be accepted or embraced.
In no means was I trying to be rude with this post.... just "ranting". Thanks for listening. |

Rant away. Unfortunately, we will rarely know the reasons for those low votes. Some people just have a scale that leaves more room at the top, others simply on what they like, regardless of how good it is.
After a time, you will also gain a feel for interpreting the challenge results. There are many outstanding photographers on this site who routinely score low to mediocre, because their work does not have broad appeal. I've had many low to mediocre scoring entries of my own that have been successes, because they hit the intended audience. You will find your style and your fans. |

BTW, I had a quick look over your entries that I voted on. Looks like I left you a couple of anonymous 5's and a couple of 4's with explanations. The 5's are always the hardest thing for someone to comment on, as they are not bad, but nothing grabs you either. The low and high votes are much easier for someone to sort out what they do or don't like it, so the closer you average to a 5, the fewer comments you tend to get. People just don't know what to say about it.
On a related note, if you focus on commenting heavily on the 5's you give out, there is a lot to be learned from that. By forcing yourself to analyze what you do and don't like about that midrange photo, you will come away with things you can apply to your own photography. |

If it makes you feel any better, I have a 3.8 in Human Form right now. :) |

News flash, Anita: you shouldn't even be here. You were banned from this site for life, and this is now the 19th account we've closed on you. It's bad enough that you keep trying to sneak back in illegally, knowing that you'll be discovered and all your entries disqualified, but to actually COMPLAIN about the site you're breaking into is just plain cuckoo. Here's an easy solution to your little rant: STAY GONE!!! |
