My Daughter is going to be celebrating her 8th Birthday in March, Because all her friends have been having theme parties this past year, She is anxious to have a theme, She really loves Fashion and Dressing up etc, So my wife and I thought it would be cool to have a Fashion Theme Party and do a photo shoot with all the little models and then make a print of each to take home and hang on the fridge.
Anyone ever have a party like this if so, Do you care to share some pointers? I have all the gear for the photoshoot Lights Cameras etc.. But have very few good ideas for props, make up ideas, etc... So if anyone has some ideas they would like to pass along. I would appreciate it. |

How about making some magazine covers with their supermodel pics? |

Set up a runway for them to strut up and down, and fall over in their high-heel shoes. ;-)
The magazine cover is a great idea. |

My daughter wants the fashion party. I suggested the animal idea to her and she said sarcastically, "Dad, that is so last year"... lol
I like the Magazine Cover idea thanks Steve, same goes for the runway idea David thanks...

We did an "america's next top model" party. One of the shoots on Next Top Model was when the models had to portray 4 different emotions. So I let this kids pick 4 different faces and I shot those. Examples: scared, mad, happy, crazy, sad, demonic. When it comes down to it, kids love making faces at the camera and they had a blast. |

These were test shots. It was actually for my daughter's party, but my son wanted to try it. So this is before we ironed the backdrop, before lighting things well, etc. But my son had a blast with it and he was 8 at the time. |

A complete nightmare, bring ear plugs, little girls in a group squeal all the time!@!!,,,,, BUT your daughter and friends are sooooooooo gonna love it!!!!
If you have dress up clothes even better, or go to the charity shops and get some really cheap items they can play with. You could get some old handbags (purses) and use them as props behind them, costume jewelry is always a blast, you can also use your props as decorations for the table. If you want to go as far as make up, they will die and go to heaven and think you are the coolest parents in the world, hair glitter and hair spray dye is also a good thing for girls. Get your wifes high heels out, nothing makes young girls squeal more than high heels. Cheap feather boas are great for them and for having on the birthday table.
if it is sunny outside set up a little runway so they can have a fashion parade you could get shots of them like that too. Give them each a little cheap disposable camera so they can each take their own shots (and take them home and pay for it to be developed! I learnt the hard way!)
can you tell I have done this lol |

Great list from juliet --
another thing to add is stuff for the head -- different floppy hats and big scarves to wrap around. They love playing with them and it makes for wonderful pictures, as well. |
