Got mine today, and it also toasted today. Tested good, then I left it turned on sitting on the desk. Every other Vivitar I have is fine that way and turns itself off after a few minutes of non-use. This one eventually emitted a loud pop, accompanied by a burn smell. Batteries were hot when removed. My assumption is that it continued to charge the capacitor until it blew. Maybe mine was defective, but I wanted to give a warning to those that bought one.

Ouch. Glad you didn't have a fire.

Bump for the daytime crowd and also to say that 1saleaday's customer service has already responded to me. They are going to ship me a replacement.

Mine worked alright, but I can't seem to find any use of it, every time I tried it, it seems like the flash is not adding any light .. hopefully one of you can point me to the right direction... I am using this as a slave with another sb-600 triggered by the commander mode of my d80

Vikas, as you using all the flashes in manual. Sounds like its not sinking with the nikon flashes. Could be going off with the preflash.

Until it fried, mine was working on the S2 setting, which ignores the first preflash and fires on the second one it sees. It's not a powerful flash, but my test shots did show that it made a difference.
