I was about to buy the .Colovision Spyder + PhotCal calibration tools from B&H for $149 when I read the recommendations from www.drycreekphoto.com which recommended Gretag Macbeth Eye-One Display ($249). Dry Creek Photo also recommended the Colovision Spyder + OptiCal over the PhotoCal version if going with the Spyder.

Does anybody know if the additional $100 investment is necessary? $149 is pretty easy to swallow... $249 requires a some thought.

Bumping this as I think a few of us might want to know.

I've got the Spyder and I think it is about as much "technology" as I need. I'm not sure what I would do with more capabilities.
