Hi all,

I have used numerous types of software to publish my pictures to various types of audiences, and somehow until today could not find a good solution.
Maybe some of you can enlighten me with their wisdom or solutions.

I am quite an amateur as you can see from my submissions, I aspire to get a score 6 image instead of cashing in challenges... why I mention this? I am not fishing for compliments here I rather want to say that the majority of my images are not-so-noteworthy snapshots. I would not post them to the front page of a blog.

So in short words, I end up with 3 types of images:

- the really nice ones that could be the content of a photoblog. Currently I have them under //uncovery.net where I write about hong kong using wordpress. I do not use one of the gallery plugins such as nextgen since there are not that many images and I like to write come comments along to show why the image is important for hong kong context. This part is solved well today as it seems to me. As long as solving the other 2 parts does not involve changing this one...

- the mass of other images. When I go on holidays, I might have about 10-50 nice other images that I took that I want to show to friends. I used Menalto Gallery and found out that it's quite complex. So I used Zenphoto which is quite nice and simple. But on the other hand, I had trouble with both since there was a huge path to click through to get to certain images since I sorted the by location: Europe - Switzerland - Zermatt - first image open or even Asia - Thailand - koh samui - dive - first image open.. people complained that the click path was too long despite having a direct click into the 2 latest trips from the frontpage

- private images where I or my wife or friends are in the picture. I do not like to put these images online w/o a password. In Zenphoto you need a separate gallery to put a password. So the images from the same location are split between private and public. In wordpress a link to locked away content is clearly visisible and then you are ask for a password which is also not ideal since people then see that there is hidden content. i do not need an account for every person who wants to access it. rather one user/password for everyone that I change from time to time.

so what do you guys do? I am reluctant to use services like picasa & flickr because I want to be in control of my own content. what's the best way? is there one? Am I asking to much?
