After my 10-20 4-5.6 Met with some water I'm looking at replacing it, but noticed that sigma has brought out a 3.5 version of it. Does anyone have it? Any good or bad feedback that anyone has heard? Any other lens that I should be looking at as a replacement? Its under insurance so that helps a bit.

I have the previous version you have and love mine, I can only imagine the faster 3.5 would be better in low light. Maybe look through the fredmiranda.com reviews |

The UK version of Digital SLR Photography has a good review on it, rated 4/5. I did however notice one negitive review of the new lens at the following site: just found out that I am not able to post url so copy this and stick a www in the front. dyxum.com/reviews/lenses/reviews.asp?IDLens=539 this may be worth a read as the poster changed from the old sigma 10 20 and was not happy. |

Thanks for that, now I'm even less sure I want to go with the 3.5, a few reviews don't feel that its up to scratch. The main convincing argument against the upgrade is that for the most part with landscape shots you want more DOF than 3.5 will give you so where is the advantage in being able to step down to it. |

Just to ad an update, I'm now the owner of the 3.5 and so far I'm quite happy, silent operation, more so than the 4-5.6. Its certainly a bigger lens, but Im not sure why such a big front filter thread, it looks as thou it could have been much smaller. Much Much Much better lens cap, one can actually remove it with the lens hood on. I haven't noticed any worse distortion, over all the extra light was worth the $ so far at least. |

Easy: First you have to send the actual lens to my home adress so somebody can confirm that you actually own that lens. Then I will send the SC a ticket via the contact form (help -->conact us -->equipment change/addition) with all the info about the lens, a photo of it and the request to add it to the data base. ;-)
OR you do step #2 yourself...

Ok thanks for that, should I include a self addressed stamped envelope for you to return it? |

Check out the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 Most reviews rate it as as an excellent lens.
Oops - Just read thru the thread and see that you already bought the 3.5 Sigma. Nevermind.
