I've just taken my shot for personification and it is (was) taken at 00.20 on the 18th Jan so do I list the pic as taken on 18th or 17th?

I have submitted it within the time (of cause) but I have it listed as taken on 18th

Just set your camera to your local time. The submission deadlines are based on the server time, listed at the bottom of the page. If it doesn't let you submit it listing the technical date you shot it, just list it as the 17th. The only way it would matter is if we would request proof on the shot -- the date that matters is what's in the EXIF.

well here in UK it was taken on the 18th technically, but it was still the 17th on the server time, so if we work to server time then Im good to go.

I submitted it anyway

Thanks
