when i went to school, one of our professors told us about a photography flash bulb that can work in any lamp. it was just a bulb that worked as a flash. i'm trying to find out what the name is if anyone could help me that would be great. |

Above will save you some money compared to the B&H price. I've used said bulbs, they are very weak (45 watts) and there is no way to modify the ultrawide beam. If you try to use a reflector of the kind you find in home depot you end up covering the slave sensor thus making it useless.

You might try checking with Bulbtronics -- they have bulbs for almost everything ... |

This is the one that looks like a fun thing to play with, to me. Several variations built into it, and it might be fun to use in a normal lampshade for interior shots or environmental portraits, etc. Tempted to get one just to see...
Anybody use this exact model before? |
