But if you look, do you have a .thm file that accompanied the .avi file?

Sure it's still photography, just not "still photography." ;-)

I think the only difference between video and burst mode is the number and size of the frames captured -- a matter of degree and not principle.

haha Ok I didn't notice the ambiguity of my question when I typed.
What I meant to say is if people think that ripping off single frames from a video can be considered photography (still still photography?)?
Or on higher level, is that still art?

Not that I can find, unless you mean just right clicking on the thumbnail for the video. Under properties there, it does have Date Created: 1/14/2010.
I am not really interested in shooting video for challenges either, including the one I made for this thread, I have used it probably 4 times since October. But it was one my first thoughts when the 5D mk11 videos started coming out.

So, should we also eliminate frames from 7fps burst-mode shots as well? I think some cameras will even keep shooting continuously as long as you hold down the shutter (and there's room in memory).

Not necessarily disagreeing with you, but just pointing out that there's really only a difference of degree between the two modes.

Burst mode is just that, a burst. Running a video camera for 1 or 2 hours pointing at an eagles nest is a different game, different sport. Sure, you can set a still camera to take unattended time lapse, too.

But what's the logical conclusion? Every one go get HD video cameras and enter the best still frame?
