Am I missing something about how the photo view under My Photos works? It seems that the only way I can get to see comments on one of my old photos is to go to the challenge results and find my photo, then open the comments. Is it possible for the comments to show with my photo when I use My Photos?

You can easily use 'My Profile' to see the list of your challenge submissions. Each of those is a clickable link to your photograph's page with all of its stats and comments.
