Whats the diffence between all the sandisk cards? Is it just the speed?
Also has anyone used Transcend before?

Speed and reliability/fail rate. But mostly speed.
Here is a list of speed test comparisons for your Canon 40D:

EDIT: I have a 16GB Transcend card and a 4GB Sandisk Extreme IV. The Sandisk is much faster.

and in case you think "oh I don't need a fast card, I shoot landscapes" (as I did), remember that it's also faster at getting your images to your computer. I had not considered that fact for a long time and just steered away from the fast, more expensive (usually but not always) cards. Then I got one at really good price and was amazed. I actually copy images from my XD to my fast CF before I upload so I don't have to sit there all dang day.
(I have also enjoyed putting the camear on burst mode and just holding the trigger down just to listen to that thing fly lol)

| Can your camera use UDMA cards? These are super fast in camera and out. I never use my other cards anymore since I bought a Lexar Professional UDMA 300x CF card. |
