Chose the one with a lot more background in order to avoid the " in their natural environment" police. Finished 108th.

Can't complain about the finish and I probably picked right as the birds of prey seemed to carry the day. |

I was in Destin, FL instead of my normal stomping grounds so I was pretty much stuck with water birds. Here's a few I considered.
Not sure any of these would have done any better than this.

It wasn't an outtake, since I only had a few minutes to shoot that week (we were driving the family home to Minnesota). However, I ran across this guy in Minnesota a couple of days later.

Had a hard time making up my mind. I like the anhinga better, but the green heron seemed more like a portrait.
