While in San Francisco, I took the usual "tourist shots" (Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, cable cars, and city views such as last weeks submission). Of all the photos I took, this rather simple view of incoming waves at Ocean Beach ended up being one of my favorites. Everytime I look at it, I can hear and smell the ocean. For best effect, view in Large format on Flickr.

quite nice Dan
but perhaps you need to boost the colors especially the blues as it looks a little washed out |

Bull Elk

Caught this big fellow while he and his herd were crossing road about 30 yards ahead. Never been that close before. Most of time elk are near 100 yards away at closest. Got lucky this day. (Several other elk shots from this day on my Flickr Photostream including a coulpe of young elk directly across road from my position)

Bird-A-Week
Week 10 (little behind, erk.)
Will catch up later in the week!
Now I know Sulamk already stole my thunder with her beautiful swamphen mom feeding her cute little chick, but here is my added contribution to the purple swamphen's fame, taken whilst visiting:)
(Anyone have advice how to stop 'save for web hugely desaturating pics? - these were a lot brighter originally)

A beautiful shot of a very imposing animal. I'm glad we don't have these guys on our roads. (We already have heaps of road hazard wildlife.) |

Dan this is the pick of your images so far it really is intriguing
the only critic i have is the shadow over its face
but i gather that is not a lot you could deal with
then again its really boosted by the lighting across the body
