Mine:
Pink Floyd - What a band. Roger Waters'/Dave Gilmour's vocals where beautiful. My favourite albums are The Wall album and Wish You Were Here, and The Final Cut was great too. Their songs show life on another level, deeper than what's immediately apparent. I really love Shine On You Crazy Diamond - the song seems to transcend the ordinary and dig deeper into the human soul. I love their stance on the horrors of war and on humanity in general.
Green Day - American Idiot was an amazing album. Though I liked some of their earlier songs, it is from American Idiot onwards that in my opinion Green Day became a truly great band. They spoke out against war and the Bush government and their attack on democratic rights. The new album, 21st Century Breakdown, is also a very interesting album about the state of our world today. I saw them live about 2 weeks ago and wow, can they perform. They were incredibly entertaining. So much energy.
The Clash - Such a complex band. They seemed to be on such a par with ordinary people and to understand how tough life could be. Yet at the same time they made songs about the wider world, and the complexities of human life. They had such rhythm and a lot of energy too. I love the songs Straight to Hell, Red Angel Dragnet, Train in Vain, Charlie Don't Surf and many more, but they stand out to me especially.

Mine:
Pink Floyd - When I was younger, I didnt like this band at all.... the name was weird, and I never gave them much of a listen. Fast forward a few decades, after the band has stopped performing and releasing records, and I give it a shot. They have become some of my ultimate chill out music, and whenever I hear them on the radio, I blast it as loud as I can. I discovered that I am a fan of progressive and pyschadelic rock.
Tool - I didnt normally listen to rock, but Tool was one band that always got me hooked. Great progressive sound.
Do they all have to be rock bands?
Younger Brother - Ok, not a band per se, but I absolutely love the music they produce. They would be classified as psychadelic ambient trance, and would be pink floyd, without the guitars and lead singers. Excellent, multilayered sound, if your into psytrance.
Shpongle - Similar to Younger Brother, an excellent psytrance duo (Simon Posford and Raja Ram). The kind of music you can let your mind get lost into. |

Me as well.
Pink floyd of course. The solos are amazing and the music works well, just plain and simple. I also love the album art.
Metallica - Def my favorite rock band of all time. So influential back in the day. The new music isnt that great but the first 4 albums were just sick sick sick.
Van Halen. EVH revolutionized guitar playing in style and in technical equipment.

For me, the other way around. I've had such a hefty injection of Floyd, it sounds like Barry Manilow to me today. Ok, I'm exaggerating a little.
