I used a Make up artist for the first time at a shoot today. I had planned on creating a release so that she can use the photos but starting to question should I use one and what would it say.
Do you use releases for make-up artist? |

It depends on the project, and who the makeup artist is. I normally do most of my own makeup. Though there are a couple I use whom we 'share' images for portfolio as well as other things. We don't use a formal agreement, though it would be smart to.
All you are doing with a makeup artist release is a limited 'for x use only' type of release. In other words you state that the MUA will receive 'X' image/s for X purpose.
Say one instance will be, all finished images in web format for digital portfolio/s.
3 completed 'print ready' images for self promotional use only. May not be used for commercial or for sale.
yadda yadda legal jargon yadda.
Depending on the project again, you may have them sign a confidentiality agreement.
As with any agreement they should be signed before hand so all parties involved know what to expect.
