I am planning to buy the Canon 10D and I am not sure which lens should I choose. I have read a lot about the 70-200mm L series but not so much about the 70-300mm DO series since it is quite a new lens. I am thinking of going for the 70-300mm because of a longer zooming but since it is not an L series I am not sure whether to go for it or not. I need the camera mainly for aviation photogrpahy. Any suggestions please?

The 70-200 f/4L is a proven winner, fantastic lens for a very good price. The 70-300 DO while not designated as an L lens is for all intents and purposes an L quality lens, it is also twice the price of the 70-200 (check here), but it has IS which the 70-200 does not have. for aviation photography I'd probably go with the longer lens.
