I just finished going through the Enthused pics, and realized that they scored much higher and was trying to figure out why. I think the reason is the bored pics are also boring. The challenge was clear don't bore your audience but get a bored picture. My problem with most of the pics are they are boring pics of boredom.
I almost didn't enter anything for this challenge because every "boring" pic I took was just that. It wasn't until late in the week that I captured a pic that depicts something (or someone) bored and isn't a boring pic. Is anyone else having this conflict? |

That is great vawendy! Now it is you that is looking at a ribbon! |
I hadn't looked at the results, yet! Congrats on the ribbon -- what an awesome shot!! And on your first challenge. You'd better pay the $25 and become a member so you can upload a portfolio. We want to know what we're in for! |
:>) Ty! I wont be a member for a while though. Its inexpensive enough but I am not sure how long I can enter that often right now because things are going to get really busy for me in the next few months. I have some family visiting from out of state for the holidays and a few other things going on personally so it could be a while before I can give more time as I would like. For now I am happy with enjoying entering when I can (and I like basic editing). :>) I feel bad for the lost ribbon winner though. What a wonderful picture and such a sad way to lose a ribbon.
Here is my score for Boredom.

Went up from the 6.0 this morning so that was nice to see when I got home tonight. |

Just got my first troll -- a 2. Dropped the score by .06 with one vote. Run for the hills, people! (actually, come to think of it, I have no idea if it was my first troll... it was my first obvious troll...)

The interesting thing is this: I gave a much higher average vote in enthused than in bored. However, I gave many more high scores in bored (there were just more lower scores as well.) I actually found a lot more to like than I thought. I gave out nine 8s and one 9. I thought they were very well done for a hard challenge. |

That's something I don't really understand. The ribbon wasn't really earned. If the challenge was Best of 2009 and all date ranges for 2009 were allowed it wouldn't have been a problem.
On every single challenge that you enter you have to actually move your mouse over to, and select the few checkboxes that say you understand the rules. One of those being:
"Yes, this photograph was taken with a digital camera on or between (allowed beginning date) and (allowed ending date)."
It's really pretty simple and straight-forward. |

yup, but camera settings can get messed up. I just got my camera back from canon, in this case, luckily the date was all right. I forgot to set it to raw + jpeg, however. Never thought to check things before shooting for this challenge. Lucked out this time. |

The camera settings were most likely not all that messed up - the image was posted to flickr in November. My guess is the person just didn't quite understand the rules. Or didn't think they were all that serious, perhaps.
Good to see you got your camera back already, Wendy!
And I didn't get the memo on the use of dogs for both challenges this week - amazing how many of them are both bored and enthused! |

People think I have a great photo, but it's just not expressing enough boredom. |

A question that usually prompts the response "and how many have you given out?" but in your case I suspect that wouldn't be fair as I've had a good (= useful) comment from you.
As I seem to have received more than my fair share of comments, I'll try to give out a few.

Not in, but voted on 100%, commented on the top 8 and the bottom 10 of my list. I've tried to leave constructive comments for the lower scoring shots, I'll look for the green ticks to see if I've achieved that. |

I'm dropping, down to 6.2, still only one comment. Wouldn't mind seeing the trend reverse and get back up towards the 6.5 range. |

Dropped .09 in the 12 hours. Still a very happy vote. |
