I can see that in challenge rules there is minimal editing, and in the past time when I was active on this site I haven't seen any. I hope there will be one with a preference of being exclusive open challenge. I think it's nice to see how good we really are without the make-up of photos |

I've asked for this many times to no avail. Straight from the camera.
My Powerlines shot is un-cropped and unedited except for a touch of sharpening. |

Every challenge I enter is minimal editing to me... I never edit beyond cropping and brightness/contrast, at the most. Would be nice to see what people produce if the challenge actually happened. |

The killer about Minimal Editing is that you can't crop or adjust the light or white balance or anything! It does tend to make you realize how much you rely on processing to fix things, even simple things. But ... I rather like those kinds of challenges once in awhile. They force me to get it right in-camera, which is never a bad thing IMO. |

I was actually thinking about this very thing the other day. But with today's camera gear there are a ton of 'presets' if you're not shooting raw. I.e. you can select "beach" or "soft portrait" etc. You can also manually boost sharpness, contrast, saturation and many other things so that the .jpg file is processed at the time of shooting.
So... if we were to have minimal edit it would almost be compelling to only allow .raw shooting. Otherwise it would IMO defeat some of the purpose. |

In the rules it is clearly said
You may:
1. use any feature of your camera while photographing your entry, with the exception of combining multiple captures in-camera.
2. sharpen your entry using your editing software’s “sharpen” or equivalent option.
3. fully desaturate your image using your editing software’s “desaturate,” “convert to grayscale” or equivalent function.
...except you cannot adjust the contrast and saturation,
so I guess it's not that big of a problem to have this kind of a contest...as addition all to submit the original before the start of the contest
