To be precise, we had 9 lensbaby shots. A couple others made no attempt to tilt/shift in any way. The rest were photoshop manipulations. Nobody used an actual, professional tilt/shift lens. I'm not sure how many of those we even *own*, collectively, but none were used in this challenge. The lensbaby, of course, tilts like nobody's business. Doesn't shift, though...
I, too, was disappointed.

Great. I didn't recognize the first, but the second shouldn't have gotten by me...

I don't think my slight disappointment in the challenge entries came from a lack of T/S or Lensbaby lenses used really. I thought the use of Photoshop was perfectly acceptable. What i was disappointed in was that the large majority of them turned out to be highly saturated miniatures which seemed to follow the tutorial to the letter. It would have been great to see some shots that explored other subjects. The T/S selective focus style is popular in fashion photography and portraiture as well as being incredibly in vogue on some tv shows (in the UK at least - constantly being used on C4s Misfits). Still, like i said elsewhere, i'm really just disappointed in myself for not trying other things and ending up with a pretty lame shot. Still, onto the next challenge! |
