If I were you I would just stop entering images from your laptop to avoid any more heart break (assuming you have another computer in the house)

Get a Mac.

sorry this is too much like my job.

web apps are a nightmare to support.

Sorry Dirt_Diver, I tried to recreate your issue for about 10 minutes. I changed title, description, location, keywords, aperture, ISO, SS, Gallery Choice 1 and 2, and check boxes.

It updated mine every time and did not unsubmit my photo.

I'm using a PC running XP Home SP3 w/ Firefox 3.5.5

Yeah I had a feeling that most of you wouldn't be able to recreate the error but I know there will be someone out there with the same problem and when I find them everything will be A-OK.

Thank you all for trying and those that haven't yet give it a shot.

You can recreate the error after turning off pre-fetching in Firefox?

I just recorded the error on my laptop onto video, I will upload it and post it as soon as it's done. That way you and Langdon can see exactly what is I'm doing.

Took me seconds for the image to remove itself.

Thanks for the video.

I followed all the steps and my image does not disappear. I only tested it on a Mac though. I'll try it on XP too but I'm afraid I won't be able to try Vista. I used Vista for about a year but just couldn't deal with all the issues anymore so it had to go.

But it definitely looks like a bug when using Vista - which doesn't surprise me. Did this work before? If so, when did it stop working? Have you tried with other browsers? Langdon did a bit of enhancement work on the site recently and it's not always easy to ensure that all browser/operative system combos work flawlessly.

I can't help, not being on a PC, however I DO have an image that I have fav'ed that has never shown up on my fav'es page. I've tried to re-fave it several times and it tell me that I already have it favorited but it has never never shown up on the page.

At least I am not having an entry issue.

Have you tried turning off pre-fetching? Did it work?

I did turn this off and I was NOT able to recreate the error. But I see that more as a patch and not a fix. I shouldn't really have to adjust my settings you know what I mean.
Although I don't mind it, if 100 people "had" the same problem I did then it would be different.

I'll definitely play around more with the pre-fetching and see if I can get it to error again.

From the vid I can see you have a number of extensions installed.

Have you tried disabling *all* of the ff extensions (especially greasemonkey) and seeing if you have the same issue? - It could be that one of them is messing with the javascript somehow.

So try running just base FF with no extensions installed, see if the error occurs.

A really odd suggestion - make sure you submit your challenge entries at least an hour in advance so you can fix this issue should it occur. :-) (Aren't I helpful??) But no, I can't get it to "fail".

Well, there is one, but it's rather permanent ;-)

After watching the video, I'd echo the suggestions of disabling all extensions, and then re-enabling one at a time to see if you can repeatably turn the problem on and off. Something is buggering the scripting.

You are trying to put a color photo in a b/w gallery.

The photo itself is not an actual entry. It's just a picture.

As for the extensions I will play around with them to see if I can get it to error again.

Great suggestion BTW.

I am not able to recreate this error since I disabled and enabled pre-fetching.

I will just watch it and see what happens. If no one else can do this error then it's got to be something on my machine. I do not want to disable greasemonkey because I use it with this site and some others. I don't think the problem is GM because there are a lot of other people that use the script also. It could be X-marks, interclue, screengrab, or something else. So I will just deal with it make sure that my entry is in the challenge from now on.

Thank you all for your time.

Dude you have some serious toolbar clutter... What I am wondering about, Is how you can submit without adding the the info for shutter speed etc.. I thought that was manditory. I guess I have never tried submitting without filling out those fields. Gotta try that once.
