LOL! Oh I don't have a problem with normal lensbaby stuff... and I will be in. After all, I talked you into it - I can't possibly sit out now, can I? :-)

Anyway, Lensbaby makes cool miniatures; witness this full-scale landscape :-)

My first try. This is my shot from Machu Picchu in 2006...

Yes it would. Any SC that would like to tell us if this is new or just a Thanksgiving gift, please do. :)

Ditto... I think it would be a great new feature.

I have been following this photographer on flickr named chrisfiel who shoots with only tilt/shift lenses. Its amazing work IMO. Just thought I would share.

Also in terms of faking the tilt-shift effect, do you think it is better to shoot the whole image in focus or to shoot with a shallow DoF from the start then accentuate it in processing?

Some fantastic images there. Thanks for sharing.

I'd say you might as well shoot the whole thing in focus to give you more control while editing.

Except, you can shoot for shallow DOF front-to-back then process for shallow DOF on the strong diagonal and *really* isolate your subject that way...

Me, I'm shooting the Lensbaby so it's not an issue for me :-)

Wow - He's really incredible. I just looked up Canon tilt-shift lenses though - I'll have to do quite a bit more work if I want one of those!

Ok, I don't have a tilt-shift type lens, so I thought I'd try the photoshop method.

However...
I don't have CS4, I only have elements. I think a lot of the options exist in elements, but just in different places and applied a little differently. But at the moment, it's eluding me.

Does anyone know how to translate the tutorial instructions into Elements? Or am I just out of luck with this challenge?

If you can do layers, layer masks, reflected gradients, and gaussian blur, you have the 4 tools needed to do it in Elements. I don't know what Elements has, so I'm not sure.

It's the masks that I'm unsure about. I've masked things out before, when layering multiple layers for HDR type stuff. However, I'm not sure how to change it around to work with this tutorial. I found the reflected gradient and I can get gaussian blur...

Just looked it up the other day and don't believe layer masks are in Elements. I may be wrong.
