That's kind of a lot of work, organizing people in need, taking their portraits, getting details. Though a good cause, this is an informal GTG that's been planned for some time around taking photos on the mean streets of T.O. Doesn't really fit.

I wasn't saying that you should go out and do it but I saw the 12th and thought I would share.

Thanks Joseph for the tip =)

If we do end up taking some portraits i'll keep this in mind and let them know, and then get the pics printed for free and send them to the people we photograph =)

it's always good to know about these nation wide events

thanks! =)

FWIW the 12th, Not saying that this is what you guys are doing but on the 12th there is a nation wide project going on called "Help-Portrait". Where you take photos of people that can't afford to have pictures taken and you give them to them for free. Adorama has agreed to print photos for free and there are other companies that are involved with it as well.

Maybe you guys could help out some people on your GTG.

I do this all the time myself when I photograph the homeless, they are thrilled to have the photos and they usually send them to their families or workers to show them that they're still alive. I have even mailed them for them because they can't spell or afford the postage. We just go to an internet cafe and look up their family and sometimes even call them, it's a really good feeling for all of us. If we talk to the families they usually offer to pay me to do it and I always say no thank you it's my pleasure to do it for them. Then often think I'm weird but they almost always send me a thank you card.

I go to the Blacks in the Eaton's center, most of the time they give me a break on the cost of the photos. Nice when that happens.

I'm heading out to Toronto soon, we have 70-80 cm of snow just a little North of us and it's moving our way so we're getting the heck out of Dodge before the storm gets to us.

All the best to everyone. I can't wait to meet everyone tomorrow.

Ernie, PLEASE let me know if your NOT coming so I can rearrange my plans.

The Hortons you're meeting at.

Here's street view of it, showing the funky rusty workers statue in front. It's right across from St Mike's Hospital, on the northwest side of Queen and Victoria.

Cool thanks. Now where is the green "P" that offers the $6.00 all day parking that someone mentioned? Will it still be $6 this close to christmas?

Here? Across the street from Horton's, on Victoria just south of Queen. Can't see the lot on Maps, unless it's this one, at Victoria and Richmond, very close to the Horton's.

Edit: weekend parking before 9pm is always pretty cheap at the lots even at Christmas. After nine, not so much.

Hi, the parking lot is in this picture... it's right under the word "Park"... you can see the cars parked in the roof of it in the picture... the entrance on Queen street is just west of Downtown Camera..
