Heya, I was looking to connect my xbox360 to the internet so i could play on xbox live. I dont have any spare computers laying around but i do have some ethernet cables. My friend suggested a "Linksys WGA11B Wireless-B Game Adapter" I was wondering:

1. Where can I buy this in stores
2. How much does it go for retail
3. what other alternatives there are to an xbox wireless adapter, those things sell for $100

Thanks!

connect an ethernet cable to the back of the xbox and into your router...

I would suggest just what Soup did, run an ethernet cable and plug it in to the back of the box. As for other options for the xbox wireless adapter, I dont know anyone who uses anything other than the xbox adapter. While it might be a bit expensive, it's worth not having the hassle of some other electronic device to manage and plug in.

if the computers are already using Wifi - you could possibly move the router/modem nearer to the xbox
if the cables you have aren't long enough - or you don't want to run one of your long cables.

f'd if i'm gonna spend $100 for a special wireless USB adaptor...........

I have a WGA11B that I used for my original xbox. I tried to hook it up to my 360 after I got it and could not get it to work. After a few hours of dinking around I broke down and went out and bought the wireless adaptor made for the 360.

Thx guyz... But since I don't exactly want to move my router to my basement, could I just use two routers, one upstairs for the computer, and one in the basement for the xbox? Or can I only use internet through one router??? Thx again! =D

Your best cheapest bet would be to move your modem and router down where your xbox is located, plug the xbox into the router via ethernet cable. Then, if your desktop doesn't have a wireless network card go buy one for anywhere between 40 to 80 bucks and install it on your desktop.

One thing to keep in mind. If you have friends that also have xbox 360s. You can link them together using the wireless adaptor. It can be done via wire too but it is much easier to connect with the wireless. Just a tad more money then you would spend on a good wifi card for your PC would get you the wireless adaptor for the 360.
