I don't know why, but Taiwan hates Firewire.

It's virtually impossible to find Firewire goodies in the stores here and even harder to find good stuff.

I understand that the cream of the crop for card readers is Firewire 800 readers like the Lexar, but I'm confused that they only come in single slot versions.

Where are the SD/CF readers?

Also, what about eSata readers? I haven't seen much of anything about that.

Ideally, if eSata is faster, wouldn't it make more sense to get an eSata SD/CF card reader?

I don't really want to spend $100 bucks US, but I'm not specifically looking for something cheap. I have purchased too many cheap card readers only to find out that they have this problem or that. So many card readers give spotty file transfer speeds.

I've been selling off all my 4GB cards and will likely be using all 16gb and 32GB cards in the future. Spotty transfer rates on USB2 kinda isn't too compatible with 32gb cards.

I will be doing some stuff as well with SD cards, probably 2-4GB non sdhc and 8GB and 16gb SDHC cards in multiple types of devices. That will be video recording, so I expect a good volume of transfer there as well.

I am restricted to buying online, so where could I find some good links?

I think the main reason is that USB is on all computers. Not everyone has Firewire and ESata. Manufacturers generally want to sell to the largest possible market.

fair enough, but there's only like 50 different USB devices in any given store, most of which aren't terribly competitive for price/appearance/build quality, so just sit on the rack. Would be better if they made better products...

Anyhow, that's not the point. The point is - are there any recommendations for SD _and_ CF card readers that run on firewire (6 pin is fine) or eSata that would be recommended?

My slowest cards are currently 233x RiData Lightning series cards.

I have no idea what is available except the Lexar card readers, but they only do CF and they are rather costly for a single card reader (at around 60 bucks). If it was CF and SD, I'd slap down the cash immediately.
