This is a photograph of a family friend, Stephanie and her brother Willie. She died last year (16) from brain cancer. Her mom gave me some 4x6 images to scan and clean up for her. She lost the negatives. The film was from a standard point and shoot. I can't seem to improve the young man's face any further than what you see in my version. The sunlight has left some nasty blown highlights. Any suggestions? Primarily looking for help with that one point, but I'm open to other improvements that I overlooked or that can be done more skillfully. I'm not finished with their faces (dodging) so feel free to look past that if you like! ;)

original, cropped, WB adjustment.

Here is another scanned image. I can't seem to improve the effect of the flash on her face.

is that the largest version of the image you have... the first one... Please e-mail it to me or post the large version and I'll go to work on it.. I've been doing a lot of restoration lately.. Especially of images that have problems with dust/scratches on it.. I can try. :-)

Sorry, but I can't figure out how to download the image. DPC has added a clear GIF layer over the images.

I think with the new system in place you have two options - one is to put the image in your Workshop - that should leave it still downloadable. The other, if it is bigger than 800 pixels, is to click on the "view full size" option, and you should be able to download from the page that comes up. Try this last one - view the image full size and you should be able to right click and save it.

Thanks Deb, right clicking the full size image works.

This is what right click blocking gets ya. Aggravation. Google "adblock". If you're running FireFox add adblock as a tool. Right click on a full sized challenge photo that is protected. It will be overlaid by a gif with a particular name. In the options of adblock you will be given the option of blocking that file name for this site. Don't block on other sites, unusual problems WILL crop up. LOL This should work until Langdon decides to defeat it.

Fortunately the full size was available and wasn't blocked. You could also have requested the party email you the full size image, or place it on a server you could access.

This is my poor attempt to fix the flash blanked face:

Link should be clikable for full sized version.
If of no interest, let me know and I'll delete it
and the original.

Not bad, thanks! Shadow/highlight slider to her face? Just needs some color correction for her skin and then it's much better than the original. I always forget about the tool, thanks.

actually I edited her face and the rest of the image seperately, opened it as a RAW file in ACR and adjusted it from there. I might be able to post the PSD file for you to look at, I believe I still have it with the smart objects in place. Wont be able to post till when I get home later tonight though.
