Nah! Doesn't stink at all!
I love the image it would replace, and it was my first ribbon. I'm just coming off a yellow ribbon, and my FS is sitting nicely above 6.0, which rarely happens. It's been a looooooong time since I've had two entries in at the same time at 6+, and I am freakin' delighted.
Besides.....it just rallied a little with what must have been a HONKIN' good vote!.....8>)

About where it's been all week, but one commenter guessed it was by one of my favorite photographers and another raved about it, so I'm still pretty pleased.

Actually it was not the last two votes, but someone else who revised their vote down by -6. Can't come up with any reasonable explanation for someone deciding an entry was pretty good the other day, but now sucks. It frequently happens, though. |

Hopefully it scrubs off the bottom, 'cuz I had a 7+ like forever, then in the last 24 hours it has cratered to 6.94...

My picture was over a 6.7 for the first day and I had high hopes...haha and finished at a 5.8777..which is a top score for me..so I am happy..but when it started soooo high...I was disappointed it went down so much.

It was weird here, 'cause at 10:00 A.M. Monday morning I was at 6.700, and it pretty much stayed put all week. I didn't see the wild swings in score that some of you did.
The 6.7986 that I posted right before rollover was my final score, so I'm assuming the scrubber didn't have any effect.
An 11th place finish is just fine by me since it is the second score in two weeks that I've had hit my profile page, and with my current FS entry, I'm having my third 6+ score in a row.
Life is good!

Two of my last three entries made it on my profile page so I'm psyched about that! And I have one in a challenge now and hoping it hits the profile page. After I fill my page with new pictures maybe I can hope for a 6+ vote :)
Mine went down slightly with roll over...but again, still my highest score yet so that rocks!

I'm pretty curious as to what people were actually voting on....(and this isn't a personal why is my shot so bad type question), but I went through and were reading some of the comments on other photos and I saw comments like "That's the wrong technique, but still a great shot 10." or "All you didn't do this technique right and this part of the photo was hurt 8". I even saw a couple of "[Photographer] this is one of your better shots 10."
So if you weren't taking off for using the wrong technique or doing a technique wrong....what were you awarding and taking away points for? |

Well, speaking for myself, I did notice a couple of shots that were technically correct, but uninspired, yet some of the shots that I saw that IMO weren't necessarily the greatest examples of their techniques, were nonetheless good enough images that their appeal carried it past the slight technical aspect.
ETA: IMNSHO, this challenge kind of broke some new ground here, and I thought that overall, the entries exhibited quite a nice variety of different techniques and styles.
I was more interested in the overall level of quality of the image, especially as it pertained to the composition & presentation than nitpicking for perhapsa slight faux pas in one exact technique.
Not to mention the fact that since I'm not exactly schooled in the finer points of photography, I kinda figured I wassn't exactly qualified to bust someone else's technique if I wasn't completely sure myself.
