Does anyone here use Capture One v4 for their RAW processing needs? I have been reading some of the high-end professionals blogs recently and a lot of them seem to use this software exclusively for processing/sorting their images.
Anyway, I have downloaded a 30 day trial from their website and have given it a go, and whilst the learning curve is pretty steep, and getting used to the UI takes a while, it does seem to output a better quality of image - however it seems pretty slow going and the thought of processing a whole wedding like that seems a bit long winded..
So, has anyone out there got some tips on using it to its full potential. I am not looking at abandoning Lightroom anytime soon, but I am always open to new methods of processing, especially some that could save me time. |

You find it better? Faster? Easier to manage workflow?
Why do you prefer it over LR? |

| I like the colors far better than LR2. Well, at least they're MUCH easier to achieve the pleasing colors I want. |

I have Capture One 4.0 and I experimented with it for some time. I compared it to ACR and the current (at the time 1.2 or 1.3) version of Lightroom. At the time, there was merit to both, and especially as Lr was kind of a dog for speed. I still elected to stick with Lr, however. It is a *much* more compete program for managing all aspects of a large catalog of photos, and the ARW conversion results were very goood and have been improving with every update. Version 3.0 is in beta (I'm sticking with 2.5 until 3.0 gets rolled out) and promises even better NR amongst other improvements.
Lr is a little different interface that does take some getting used to, and it requires that you think about how you want to tell it to handle your catalog. I found Scott Kelby's book a great aid in getting the most from Lr. |
