..... a pessimist or have I missed something and this is not the lens I think it is.
canon 70-200 f2.8 IS
On Amazom UK these are approx twice the price (inc postage to the UK)
Anyone got any cautionary tales or would go for it ?

Nope, thats about right - but you may get stung for import duty - I picked my one up from onestop digital about 2 years ago when it was only £998 - a bargain!
Remember the pound has rallied against the dollar a bit in the last few days - thats why I have to pay Warehouse Express £4499 if I want a new 1dmk4, but if I went to the states it would only cost me £3000
incredible eh?
Although a kindly soul I havent yet replied to has offered to buy one for me (on my dollar) and send it over to me, must get back to him. |

| Thanks for that - I sort of figured but i thought i'd check with someone - now all i have to do is make a quick decision ..... I think this lens is very hightly recomended - yes ? |

| Yes it is, but unless you plan on doing a lot of shooting indoors, the f4.0 is probably good enough (that's the route I went). |

Its an awesome lens. Incredibly sharp even at f2.8 and bokeh to die for!! |
