OK Nikon peeps. we got our arses handed to us in this one. 9 of the top 10 images were either shot with a 10d or a dRebel. Of course they outnumber us 3:1 (10d/dRebel vs d100/d70), but still.
I don't know how the rest of the results wash out, I just couldn't help but notice.

Maybe I better not sell that dRebel after all...;)

Interesting. But good photography isn´t about hardware.

Pedro,

I'm curious how you feel about the noise in the D70 versus the Rebel. (I don't have either camera, yet). One thing that really holds me back from my next purchase is that I want low noise, and only the CMOS sensors seem to do that. But on the other hand, I've noticed that in CCD based cameras, Nikons seem to have less noise than Canons.

How do you feel about the noise levels in the D70? Do you feel that you still can use ISO above 100 without worrying?

To me it's not an issue. I have yet to find a situation where there's enough noise to notice at 100% viewing or less. Certainly if you blow them way up you'll see it, but that's true of the dRebel too.

See for yourself:

That's full crop, straight from the cam (your browser might re-size it to fit, but it's a full 3000x2000 image so you can get the detail. Look particularly at the reds, which is where noise always seems to show up first. ISO 200, shutter 1/160, F8.
