I have been very satisfied with this lens. Overall I have found it to be nice and sharp even out to the corners of the frame on my 1D and certainly on the 1.6x crop bodies though it loses a little sharpness at the corners of a full frame camera. AF is fast and quite, build quality is very good and the size and weight are not unmanageable. I think it is a good lens for the money but I also think that the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L is as good at 20mm though the price is much higher. If you can spring for the zoom you will get a more versatile lens without really giving up any image quality. I think the difference in price is close to $1000 though.

The EF 20mm f/2.8 USM is a very decent lens, my guess is that you won̢۪t be disappointed with it.
